Baculites from Fannin Co., TX

Kingdom: Animalia, Phylum: Mollusca, Class: Cephalopoda, SubClass: Ammonoidea, Order: Ammonitida

In Fannin Co., TX along the North Sulphur River, I found the baculites shown below. These are straight cephalopods that were from the Ozan formation located near Ladonia, TX. Most of the baculites found in this area are black, like the one shown below on the right. The one on the right is very unusual with the tan color. Both display the typical suture pattern of cephalopods.
